It creates suspense. You expect something to pop up at every turn. The atmosphere is Nerve wrecking too.

Level 96 or so, I kept losing count because I was thinking of better things I could be doing besides walking down a virtual staircase in the dark. The end was creepy as hell but nothing pants-piss worthy. I guess I'll try SCP-87-B now.
