Vigilante 8 was part of my childhood, I only heard about Twisted Metal a year or two ago. And at that point I thought it was a ripoff of Vigilante 8. Of course, I checked the dates, I know it's the other way around now. But still... |

Old games creeped me out, though. It was always either awkward silence or unfitting tunes. The limitations of gaming back then lent to a different kind of fear you simply can't create anymore. Even if you built a game like this, made it in a way which forced you to have the limitations which make it scary, it just wouldn't be the same. My point: In Vigilante 8, I'd be driving around an almost silent landscape until a random AI vehicle hellbent on killing me suddenly appears out of nowhere and rams the forget out of me. :panda: |
