ever heard of solar panels?
he's saying that his power is dying. Which may mean he can't have a solar panel, or else he would not be running out of power

I don't get it. Are rovers only assigned certain amounts of time to be implemented?
The Mars rovers were sent with no designed way of returning home.  They don't work in shifts because they are robots.  They work, they accomplish the goals we had set, and then they sit there.

They aren't capable of thoughts like this.  If it was a human, there would be a plan to bring them home.

how the forget did his battery last for 2000 days
Solar power + rechargable + the fact that the rover is ultra-low voltage.  Most space components operate at very low voltages, we're not sending Sandy Bridge Core i7's at 3.2 GHz or anything, because they would heat up so much in space.  Since space has no air, there's no way to cool them off at all.

There is a point where batteries can stop recharging though.  Laptop batteries are a great example, after long periods of usage their battery life will become smaller.  I had a laptop with a battery life of around 3 hours.  Within 2-3 years, ran down to 30 minutes to barely a few seconds until it was useless.

Humanity is a bunch of soul-less bastards who care about nothing.
They should've tried to find him.
The poor guy.
Why did they have to give him sentient AI.

sandstorms veil sunlight so
there's your answer

You know rovers aren't cognitive beings right?

he cant get sun in a sandstorm dummy!

wait how can mars have a sandstorm

wait how can mars have a sandstorm

that's like asking how can neptune have wind or how jupiter has a loving huge storm on it

wait how can mars have a sandstorm

Mars has a atmosphere, although much thinner.
It still has wind, though.

I thought wind on gas planets was because of uneven heat from within the planet
edit: I should pay more attention in science

well of course
but my main point was other planets can have weather too
(not like sandstorms are directly weather)

ok, i guess my point was disproven

Still no life on Mars? I hope we're not alone.
