I heard you can force your graphics card to do this. How so?

May also work for ATI, just different options.

For Nvidia graphics cards you use Nvidia Control Panel.
For ATI/AMD Graphics card you use ATI Catalyst Control Center.

I wish I had an Nvidia control panel. Either the 9400m card isn't supported or OSX isn't

blame OSX on this part. The 9400M supports at least 4X.
