Author Topic: "-quote- Page Loss!"  (Read 2914 times)

Yes this is annoying but the root of the problem is people not reading topics. This is especially a problem in megathreads were people think they can disregard recent post and start a new discussion.
Then they wouldn't respond to it no matter what page it's on.

Is this because of the page-lossing I did the the new Development topic?

Anyways, you make a good point. I'll stop that from now on.
It's not just you.

im sorry, i only do it when it comes to drawings because they tend to be ignored when the next page comes, and i usually always get the 15th post of the page

There is no such thing as a 'page loss' so just stop it. A page only has 15 posts and what you said doesn't deserve to be plastered on every page, no matter how great it was.

People aren't missing it, people active in the topic see every post. People who aren't active in the topic are only going to see it if you've recently posted.

The reason you're not getting a response is because either:
-No one cares.
-No one has an opinion on it.
-People are scrolling past it because they know they'll get an ignorant response if they try to argue it.
quoted for page loss

 :cookieMonster:

Here's a tip for anyone who thinks people miss their post because people just clicking last page.

This notification here: that shows up in front of any topic that has posts you haven't seen yet, is actually a button. It will take you to the page where the oldest post you haven't seen is, and kindly scroll (may be inaccurate due to images) to the new post where you left off!

People do use it.

I say its okay if it is your own thread and the thing you posted was important to the thread as a whole.

Also if you have something else to say and tag on the "pageloss" because there is no reason not to other than obnoxious people going tunnel vision on the word and attacking.  People do generally not scroll down on to the bottom of a page if there is another page after it anyway.

Only time I have been annoyed by someone reposting due to pageloss is lord tony trying too hard to post ponies.

People do generally not scroll down on to the bottom of a page if there is another page after it anyway.
Proof of this please?

Because people aren't going to skip out on a part of discussion just because they'd rather load a new webpage before reading for absolutely no loving reason.

I should've put more emphasis on the fact that a page only has 15 posts and that we usually have about-50-to-200 users active on the forum during the day. If all of those people were allowed to bring their post to the next page (dumbest thing I've ever heard), then pages and pages would be filled with 'dur pageloss read my post plzz!!!'

Except this is the exact button that causes "page loss".

That's only if you actually visited the topic while the post existed.

I don't know how people manage that.

False.

Yeah it just happens that very few listened. Sadly.

Then take your own advice.

I generally go through the entire thread thoroughly and click on every quote that looks snipped or edited to make sure I know what refers to what, but that is because I get kinda OCD if I feel like there is content that I missed, and I have a feeling that isn't normal.

Can you provide proof otherwise?  I see people posting things that clearly indicate they completely ignored the posts before them constantly, and it happens often enough that I do not think I really need to gather quotes.

This is quite true, but I did indicate
if it is your own thread and the thing you posted was important to the thread as a whole.

It always happens for me. :c

Except this is the exact button that causes "page loss".

False.
No it isn't. I've never had this problem, and I'm most active when you look at post count and not how long people auto-refreshed for time spent online.

It's usually people who aren't active in the topic to begin with. They aren't missing it because they skipped to the next page, they are missing it because they aren't going to previous pages to begin with.

Then take your own advice.

People care and have an opinion on this, as you can see. People are responding to this.
Whenever I see people posting 'whoops pageloss' all they get is negative reactions.
I was also unaware of the previous topic. If I were aware, I would've bumped it.
Wait why am I even trying to prove a point to a troll?

Protip: visiting ANY page on a topic counts as seeing all the posts. when you look at the most recent posts on a page, then someone posts, and in between you viewing the topic and someone posts, and you click on another page/quote-on-same-topic, the forum considers you're 'aware of the new post'.
I'm sorry for even having the thought that this was common knowledge. I should've known better, especially from you. (regulith, mega bear, colten)

i thought the new button was common knowledge

1) Except they didn't the other time.

2) Because that generally should happen.

3) For what purpose - everyone knows it's stupid to say.

Just leave your topic - it's dumb and common sense.

You brought it up again for no reason, but maybe you wanted to attention-whore.

Either way, you're looking stupid.

Just leave your topic - it's dumb and common sense.
Clearly not common enough.
You brought it up again for no reason, but maybe you wanted to attention-whore.
Right, being sick and tired of seeing the same post 4 or 5 times (not because of page loss but no one actually wants to give a response to it), is totally just me being an attention-whore. Clearly.

Take a look in the mirror.
