The vita apparently is identical to the ps3 hardware-wise, but has more RAM + touchscreens + portability.  I would think it has less processing power, but I really have no idea.
Then again, the Vita doesn't have as many amazingsauce games yet, and I prefers to play games with friends over anyway, which the vita just dun do.

It seems like they only added the latin name part to make it sound fancy or something.
