JPG vs PNG difference?

Depends on what you're doing.  For just a pic like that to show someone and host, JPG is better because its more compressed and saves file size.  But for editing and doing something high rez (like a game texture or something) that you don't want to look ugly, PNG is best.

Some programs don't deal with PNGs very well because they're larger and more high rez.

I thought the only difference was that PNG could be transed ;-;

I just looked at the crates in the images. JPG looked a bit more blurred.

Jpeg can be trans but you'd have some extra blobs of pixels to remove.
