or it would be cool for a default add-on/setting if admins/hosts could enter a server brick mode where they could place any block and it'd instantly be made so everyone can build on it, and easily switch back out of it.

It would be nice. Since No terrain will = you having to build and trust everyone you have on your freebuild to your bricks !

There has to be a way to go into a mode which allows to make perm bricks, and anyone can build on, but not destroy.

They probably closed it, (among other reasons) because of the stuff ton of idoitic half assed fan art. Which people posted left and right so that kompressor would give them a fleeting glance.
