For someone who deeply enjoys roleplaying and really gets into a character I find that everything matters.

holy forget you're dense
you know the rachni? how you can let the queen go in the first game and she promises to help you in the second?

in the third game, if you rescued her she gets indoctrinated again
if you didnt rescue her they made a clone and indoctrinated it
your decision didnt matter.

besides, if you let the queen go a second time you never see a loving friendly rachni in a cutscene or in gameplay or anywhere at all.
the only time it's even brought up again is if you look at your war assets and see this:

whoop de loving doo

on top of all that, if you decide to kill the queen, you dont get that asset, but instead get a krogan asset of about the same value, which also never appears
loving
pointless

ShadowsfeaR:

I wanted to make a little thingie on thermal clips, and how the guns work in the Mass Effect universe:

In the galaxy of Mass Effect, all arms use a solid block of metal to fire off the projectiles. The onboard computer systems check for distance to shear off an appropriate size slug to be fired by a mass accelerator in the weapon. All slugs are designed to crumple on impact (except for armor piercing rounds) to increase maximum damage, because a small hole in a person is less damaging than pure kinetic force applied directly to the target. The gun runs on thermal energy, stored in thermal clips. In recent technological advancements, procured by the geth, weapons can eject their thermal clip to avoid overheating, which potentially harm the weapon. The advancement allowed for troops to fire faster, without the need to worry of overheating. Different ammunitions can be applied from the user's omni-tool to the weapon, i.e. armor piercing rounds, warp rounds, and incindiery rounds.

so they went from having to worry about the gun overheating and being unable to shoot until the gun cools itself off after three seconds
to having to worry about the gun overheating and being unable to shoot AT ALL if no more thermal clips are available

sounds like a step backwards

Ya that was one of my biggest gripes about the change in gameplay from ME1 to ME2. Not only was it an obvious dumbing down of the already basic system but also over the course of the two years Shepard was dead every gun in the galaxy managed to switch over to this new system.
