We've reached the point where the mid generation of 13k players find the servers stuff. About time.
The standard of servers constantly changes. I joined in v8 and my favorite period of servers was during v9 to v10. I think people are influenced by what is there when they join. The bar is set by what you see and you expect it to stay that way forever, but then more people join and different styles of servers come and go.
My view is that servers that are really crap will die. Yes, family RP sucks, but if there are a number of successful family RP servers that get enough traffic for players to host them, then clearly its meeting a demand that people want. There is always an alternative. Or if you really can't find anything good, learn to host.
