Terraria - How do you defeat Skeletron?

Take out the arms first with a sword. The sword you should at least be able to get is the night edge. If you are lazy, get shadowscale armor and couple it with a muramasa. You should have enough dps to constantly thwack the skull while it spins towards you.

How does one get the muramasa before entering dungeon?
