Blender is free, and with the correct tutorials, easy to learn.
This is the video I watched to learn the entire 2.49 interface.
It's a bit long, but I learned a lot.
This is the video for the entire interface for the current version of blender.

As for animation, you'll have to do that in 2.49.
Here's a version demian posted with the exporter already installed.
And here's another topic on some of the basic stuff for blender

2.49 is terrible for modeling compared to 2.61. There is no reason not to model in 2.61.

Sabbin:

Downloading blender now.

EDIT: the only thing I'm worried about is Symmetry.

Yes, you've said that already.
The only reason i posted a tutorial anyway because some people prefer to work in 2.49 sometimes.

Milkshape 3D is personally my favorite and many other people's favorites.

Of course, you have to pay for it, so I'm not sure if you want it.

It's literally built for Blockland, super easy to use, has all you need, and you can whip stuff up fast. I remember trying it, and I literally learned completely from scratch. I didn't use any tutorials as I I think it's better to self learn than be taught; like scripting.

So if you're aiming for some nice Blockland stylish guns, use Milkshape. If you have any questions, go on, ask me or message me.

if your looking to make nice blockland stuff use blender. if you're looking to do more than nice blockland stuff, use blender. case closed
