If I weren't lazy, knew how and was able to, I'd hunt.
I would hunt small pest-like animals as Tesla does. I might not stuff them, because stuffed animals creep me out, but I wouldn't have a problem killing them.
I wouldn't mind hunting animals for food either. I would consider that a pretty cool and practical skill to know how to hunt and prepare your own kills for food.
But I wouldn't call it cruel or sickening that I would want to or that I would enjoy it.
I'm not going around clubbing them or smashing them to pieces.
I would try for quick instant kills. If I were to shoot an animal and it survived but was badly injured or perhaps even mutilated by it, I'd feel sick and guilty about it and I would quickly put said animal out of its misery.
Killing an animal doesn't make you sick and twisted, particularly if it's in a humane way.
It's not like catching insects and ripping their wings/legs off, or clubbing a small animal or breaking legs and wings of birds. A bullet or a pellet or an arrow to the head or snapping a neck wouldn't be painful to the creature.
The fun in hunting is not causing pain to an animal. That's where sick people get involved. The fun is the hunt and the use of a skill to kill an animal.
To be perfectly honest and even a little bit stupid, it's the exact same enjoyment I would get from, for example, killing a deer in a game like Skyrim or Oblivion.
