Angry Birds.. New obsession?

Angry Birds stuff is everywhere.
Bandages, stuffed animals, it's actually quite weird.
I think it's like BnL from that movie Wall-E, Rovio is trying to take over the world.

How do people get extremely addicted to this when there's way better games out there?
Also, I've tried playing Angry Birds a few times. It's not very fun.

I find no entertainment in slingshotting birds into pigs for real. I find more entertainment of laying in the grass and staring into the sky.

It's a fun little game but the merchandise and all is REALLY REALLY STUPID
I mean really, I can understand selling a shirt or two, but having seventy billion products with angry birds stuff on it? WHY.
