You're right.
It isn't, but this a user expressing what could be a very good idea.
Only problem is, the collision/physics engine needs an update.

You can actually make 2WD cars in BL already. Originally I intended the Bengs to be RWD, but I wasn't really satisfied with the manoeuvrability of it. There was too much understeer, whereas RWD cars are more likely to oversteer.

So right now, cars in BL are more like simple electric wheelchairs.

Yeah, I mentioned that in the OP. Thing is, the game doesn't split the engine power between the drive wheels, but rather supplies the same amount of power to all of them, regardless of their amount. This means a 4WD car is twice as powerful as a 2WD car even if they have the same amount of torque.
