What exactly was Return to Blockland?

Just wondering exactly what RTB was. I thought it was just the extra program that corresponds with BL but I've also heard that it was like its own separate game.

it had lots of neat stuff
i didn't actually use it much. most of the time i played vanilla
all i remember is the editor wand and gamemodes
