It's been speculated entirely, on the sole basis that Windows 8 showed off Xbox LIVE features and bits of Xbox LIVE code was found in Windows 8 code.

Boo hoo, changes.  It's still going to be the same functioning Windows, just with a new UI.  Don't jump on the bandwagon of "wah change is bad, it looks like its for tablets".

I hope they don't make Xbox LIVE or MSN accounts ultimately required to even boot up the computers

is the MSN login in the win8 demo optional?

its not going to be able to run xbox games. Microsoft has no interest in pc gaming because nobody who has a good pc is going to also buy an xbox.
