All sounds in first person are extremely loud

For some reason, on my laptop, all sounds that i hear in first person mode are very, very loud and rape my ears, they sound really scratchy too.

I remember someone posted another help thread on this a while ago, but i dont think anything got done. Can someone please help me?

No it's not. I'm pretty sure it's not supposed to be like this. On my desktop, this doesn't happen.

Anyway, I didn't manage to get this fixed, but I managed to stop it being such a problem by turning down the game's sound to about 800-900
