I adore it's futuristic theme aswell, but knowing Treyarch they are going to forget it up in one way or another to get more money out of it and less fun.

Are you joking? I've had more fun with WaW and Blops than any of the Modern Warfare games.

XM8s were prototype weapons that didn't work and had many problems
whether they were using XM8s, and XM8 variant, or G36s, they are still old guns. pistol is the only futuristic gun I see.
