Have you updated your graphics drivers? Also check the status of your graphics card, and watch for any unwanted artifacts, because that may be a sign of your GPU dying. One last thing, your monitor may be dying as well.

Its gone when I'm not in full screen.

Your video card may not support hardware ambient occlusion, how recently was it made?
Are you sure it's not your monitor?

I am on a laptop so that might be it and I think I got it like 3 years ago.
