I don't think that if I spent 2 hours trying to make 1 tile I'd come close to how that level of coolio.

Well, sort of...
I mean, I haven't been doing pixel art for very long, so if any veterans want to correct me, go ahead. This is just how I do it:
This is my Deadpool drawing from earlier, thankfully I still had the skeleton saved (:
To stop me from drawing weird limbs that go all wonky, I draw up a skeleton like this.
From there, I just expand out the limbs/torso/head and colour it in.
I find it easier if you draw the torso first, then legs. That way, you can better scale the arms.
