Masterlegodude:

I just can't picture Blockland being all super improved and whatnot, it just seems like one of those games that is best as a simple and easy to run game

Legos in the world of Crysis.
Yeah just doesn't seem very fitting.  Why are you so set on blockland including super-detailed environments?  It just seems to ruin the whole point of Blockland.

Exactly what i was thinking.

I mean YAY cloth physics! For who?
It would look silly on blockheads...

The visual style of Blockland is good as it will become (saying that because of the lighting update) and shouldn't be all like real life or anything close.
The blocko style is what makes Blockland. (Obviously)
All the graphical potential you just listed would/could never be used in a right way.

And well yeah, Port's quote explains a lot too.
They have done their research already and they know what it is and what they could do.

Tl;Dr
Nope.
