I've seen videos of BZ2. It was made with the Torque engine too. It's a stuffty game though. More units, yeah, but there were tons of bugs, support was hard-to-get, and the story was complete crap. It got x5 more negative reviews than positive.
Battlezone got barely any negative views, it was viewed as the best RTS of it's time. (Half-Life won best FPS.)

while battlezone got few negative reviews, I have been seeing how BZ2 has better AI, you apparently have to train them or some stuff, better grouping systems, a few other things.

I doubt it has a free remake though.

Training units sounds like a waste of time to me, I mean really, how would you function in the middle of a battlezone following orders to shoot blanks at fake enemies while the real enemies are on your ass. Wow.
