A good graphics card for Blockland

This is a fine example of either not knowing what your talking about, or throwing away money in a petty attempt to feel superior.

Sorry for the long wait.

That card looks good. The slot the computer has is PCIe x16 2.0. I don't really care if the card runs on half performance, I just want one that works and is better than the "directly attached to the motherboard" thing.

My max spending is $50. I don't think its necessary to get anything that can run Half life at 300 fps.

Being said that it now has 3GB and a decent card, I think it will be just fine for Blockland (minecraft too maybe).

Last thing: should the card be low profile (no fan), or should it have a fan? The noise doesn't matter since the case fan rattles loudly anyways.

The HP page on your computer says otherwise. Unless you're not using the original motherboard. Though without having even an idea on how much bandwidth the card would use, I can't say if it would even matter.

I'd be a little concerned if this card couldn't run a 14 year old game that well.
Though I assume you mean Half Life 2, which still is not very graphic intensive.

Low profile doesn't mean whether it has a fan or not, it's how big the card is. The card that I linked is low profile.
If your fan is rattling I'd take a look at that.

Oops. I must have said that because my I was cleaning my father's ATI Radeon because it had so much dust and other crap in it, and it has a 2.0 slot.

Yeah I meant Half Life 2. I've heard its a demanding game for graphics (on high options of course)

And having a fan or not doesn't determine it's profile? I swear every card that I browsed didn't have a fan, and I was assuming fans made noise and that made the profile higher.

About the rattling: He's had it for 2 years and nothing had changed. I monitored the hardware temperatures in the BIOS and it seemed stable. I also took out the fan and I've tried everything to soup it up. I might buy a new one, but whats the use?
