No you don't have to play a specific role to be in the team.

do ranked 5s take into account of current elo?
so if everyone on the team is high elo they get matched up against high elo teams.
or do you start at like bronze no matter ur elo

Yes. The team gets its own ELO.

There's 5 placement matches that get played, and depending on how many you win you're placed in a certain teir. In-game performance isn't taken into account.
My previous team: Penta Steel was placed into Silver 5. We re-made the team to attempt to get into silver 4, then 3 of our roles dropped out, so I'm starting a new team.
The placement formula is as follows:
You can be directly placed in the following teirs:
0 wins in a row - Bronze 4
1 win in a row - Bronze 3
2 wins in a row - Bronze 2
3 wins in a row - Bronze 1
4 wins in a row - Silver 5
5 wins in a row - Silver 4
Note that the wins have to be in a row. That means, a team that loses one game, and wins 4 more in a row will be placed in Silver 5, with a ratio of 4-1. However, another team may win 2 games, lose 1, and win 2 more. They will be placed in bronze 2, with a ratio of 4-1, their first 2 wins completely disregarded.
