"Th-th-anks." I stammer, wrapping the scarf around my neck and putting my hands in my jean pockets.

"Are th-those th-th-i-ings still inside?"

"Well, we don't really want to find out..." I say, wiping the rest of my tears.

I gulp.

"Wh-where'd Ryan g-g-go?"

"We don't know..." I say, beginning to cry again.

I pat her on the back. "It's ok, he'll come back, you know he will."

I shake my head, "Where are we even going?" I say, wiping my face

"My hotel room. Hopefully it isn't infested."

"The hotel where I first joined the group?  No, that was motel.  Never mind."

"Of course not. I was given the keycard to the five-star hotel. Why? Hell if I know."

"Well what are we waiting for? Let's go."

"He had a bit of a quarrel with his father. He's probably fine," I say, walking towards the skyscraper-esque hotel.

I remain quiet the rest of the way.

"Darnit, Alix, you're really bumming me out.  Tell you what, if we don't find Ryan, I'll quit smoking.  Now we have to find him, because there is no way I'm quitting smoking."

I let out a muffled giggle.
