By the logic of the doomsayers, the world ends every year on December 31st. You wouldn't expect us to make a calendar to the year 281, 474, 976, 712, 644 AD, would you? Bonus points if you get the reference without Googling it. The Mayan calendar just happens to theoretically run out on that date. However, as several people have pointed out, their calendar has actually run out already, due to leap years. |
