I'm not so sure it's actually practical though lmao
i can attest that it's extremely hard to block capoeira kicks. you have to dodge them by ducking, jumping, or stepping back. slaves in brazil used this stuff to kill people, as well as train without raising suspicion.

yo rave.
when do you get out?
il do it.
Awesome, this is me.

My school lets out June 20th, and then I'm going away to a Marine camp for a little over a week.  So I'll probably start July 1st.

I can't really do much exercising beforehand, but what I am doing is changing my diet.  Personally, I'm doing the Paleo diet, but you find whatever is good for you.  Cutting soda and candy is probably the easiest and most beneficial thing you can do.  Instead, drink dairy, juices, lemonade, and water.

Kicks are the most powerful strike a human can deliver, so you must be right.  But what about after they throw a kick and they need to stand up again?  imo that's a big opening.

Already pretty fit c:

It's not. You can see in the video that you posted. If the kick connects, they're too stunned to attack back, and if it misses, the kicks that Capoeira delivers come with a follow-through that's low to the ground, and very fast and fluid. The core strength they use allows them to deliver the kick at lightning speed, and never lose their stability or defense.

Believe me, the style is developed with fluidity of motion, power of strike, and awareness of opponent in mind. Among many other things, but I think the sheer fluidity and physicality that the style demands leads it to be very good with defense.

It really is awesome, but I think I'll stick with Shotokan and Krav haha.

Bump because I'm considering parkour.  Idk how I would do it though, in my town at least.

That's a guide for anyone who's interested.  It's more about how to prepare and workout your body to be ok to practice parkour.

Triple post

I've decided to become a Monk Assassin.  I'm doing a running program, krav maga, parkour, bodyweight training, and weight lifting this summer.  It's going to be awesome.  I am excited, if you couldn't tell.

I'll probably join tomorrow but right now is sleep time.

pretty much me.

pretty much me.
I've found that you can do it pretty much anywhere.  Parkour literally means finding the path of least resistance, so just get out there and start running.  Maybe run past a playground or a park or two on the way.  Hop a fence, monkey vault a bench, jump across a gap, whatever.

Ok obviously no one is interested in getting in shape (or becoming a monk-assassin for that matter) at all, so I'm locking the thread.

also im learning krav maga and BJJ at the same time (AHHHHHHH!!!!) :D

Unlocked because Otis threatened me and he scares me.
You are the worst kind of person.

Why did you lock your nerd fitness topic? Oh hey I think I'll go post something in that one topic oh wait I CAN'T BECAUSE THE OP IS A LITTLE PUNK ASS WHO GOES QQ BECAUSE HIS TOPIC WASN'T THE MOST POPULAR ON THE FORUM.

GOD DAMN IT.

I think i'll go outside and get those old dumbbells and that barbell now.
