judging from the amount of work it takes to perform these changes, it's most likely very difficult to set an actual release date. "When it's done" is an accurate and tolerable promise.

By all the screenshots and video's I've seen they look relatively close to finishing so they should at least make an estimated one.

i doubt it's been taking them this long to "tweak" the shaders. they're most likely experimenting with others things related to this.
