apparently once you hit 256,000 you can't build anymore.
poop. this poses a problem if I actually manage to go through with what I want to do.
Is this due to an engine limitation?

I can't explain it properly without kalphiter coming in here and telling me that I'm an imbecile, so I won't try.
I know it pertains to math, you'll note that 256 is one of those numbers like so:
1, 2, 4, 8, 16, 32, 64, 128, 256, 512, 1024
Sorta like memory, you know how flashdrives come in 512mb sticks and 1 gb sticks?
that sort of thing. Some kind of a limitation on how much data can be sent to the client without modifying networking code.

no limit in singleplayer is news to me.
I gave him an answer and told him why he couldn't do it. How am I in the wrong for answering 2/3 of the OP's questions?
