How do I stop my weapon's collision mesh from appearing in 3rd person view?
I'm using Milkshape, and I completely forgot how.

Yeah, but I'd also like to use this specific model as a static shape.

Set the object to col-1 as your collision.
If you are talking about weapons, then just don't export with animation.

I've tried both with and without animations, to no prevail.
When I use col-1 as the name of the collision mesh, it doesn't get detected when I export.

Make two models? One for the static and one for the model.

Seems kinda stupid when I should be able to achieve the same results with one.

Yeah, but there is sense in simplicity don't you think?

Are you using the DTS +?
With Milkshape 1.8.1?

I'm using 1.8.1b (which expires in 6 days), and the Torque Game Engine exporter.
I haven't tried the Torque DTS Plus Exporter, surprisingly, so I'll give it a go now..
Same result, even after setting the LOD to -1.

Hmmm
Maybe send me the .ms3d, I'll take a look at it.
Talk on Steam?
