I'm calculating it in studs (1x cubes, essentially).

Which don't exist. You are using a cube made out of square studs. A real 1x1 brick has the dimensions 0.5 x 0.5 x 0.6.
I'm pretty sure you already knew this, why not use a more relatable unit instead of a fake one?
