I think a good plot twist would be if Chell from Portal 2 made an appearance. I mean theoretically she could, portal is set in the same universe as Half Life and SPOILER ALERT
After GlaDoS releases Chell, you don't know where she goes. She could have walked, found some kind of Hostel and helped the uprising against the Combine for all we know.

i've never really been big on half-life or super giddy hoping for the next one, but i'd buy hl3 because it will probably be good.

i think (besides the ship) that a good part of the game may be spent at aperture science.
forget about portal, aperture still is a huge plot point they barely touched on in the hl games.

I agree it would be an epic twist.

Maybe they find the ship but then a portal on the ship sends them to aperture science and then stuff happens there and they find out more about portal technology and find a way to stop the combine.
