we measure in megabits

you do realize that megabits and megabytes both are measured the same right?

you are under some assumption that they dont correlate at all

where the hell did I say that

A long time ago...

How did I survive?! ._.

What I get now.

what the hell is with your internet?
I'm getting a new router soon.

I think.

don't really know :/ I'm on BT, but we pay for decent speed internet, we just don't get it. And we've been on two providers, it doesn't make difference, i do believe it's just where i live and it can not be solved.

My dad works for BT. We get free internet. But it's loving stuffe. Expect these things.

where the hell did I say that

except speedtest doesn't measure max bandwidth

it dosnt do it properly, (based on todays IT standards)
but it does show you max bandwidth

it measures an average of the speed you have in a short timeframe

it measures an average of the speed you have in a short timeframe
Which is a pretty accurate way to measure your max bandwidth.

hey look here it is showing the exact speed I pay for

speedtest = winner

Also this needs to be real, sustainable bandwidth. I know that some cable providers give you a little boost for the first few minutes of heavy usage but will eventually throttle it back down. Also [tinfoil hat] I suspect they may artificially prioritize popular speed test sites.
Once again, know-nothing Lub says something wrong

Speedtest has always showed me the "real, sustainable" speed I pay for. I can download/upload for hours and happily achieve that speed for the majority of the transfer duration, it's not just a burst speed.

Once again, Kalphiter tries to call me out and fails.

You fail.

You fail.

I don't care about other people's connections lol, my post was talking about my connection, no one elses. You don't need to try and compete with me all the time, it's ok.

You're so dumb it's not even funny.

Guess I am, better just not turn up to any of my remaining exams.

Also reread the quote, it says max, not "real, sustainable".

good way to test would be to own your own website that is hosted at least in your country, then try to download a large file off it (without speed limits on the site)

i never trust speedtest.net. i have to run it to like 6 locations before i can average out a good number
