What are your thoughts on roleplays in blockland?

_Rave_:

I think the best RP's are the ones where the host builds his world and the world's story, and let's people go from there.  Once people get acclimated, the host throws something at them that causes problems, and then let the story take it's own life within the world you've created.

I Think Bluzone meets everything on that list...?
Some better than others, though.

then there's times where nobody is roleplaying, so we have about 15 or something players get in cars and drive to the edge of slate with RGB lights and ear-raping music.

I'm not sure why roleplay is like in other online games, but in Blockland it requires a high level of administration.

Roleplay in Blockland is at its best when the participants are pre-determined or have spent time learning the standards expected. It may sound nit-picky, but most online games can't handle improvised roleplay. The difference is outstanding when the players put effort into the roleplay, and understand the story line and how much 'creative freedom' they are allowed.

A good RP is when players lean on each other to craft out plausible events, and interact fairly with each other to make sure everyone is involved and is enjoying the story line.

A bad RP is when players don't understand the surrounding events, the other players, and selfishly try to command attention through implausible events like extravagant deaths, over-the-top "villain-like" behavior, or dramatic interaction with players (like storming out of the room and expecting people to follow).

Just my take. There have been some brilliant servers in the past, and overall RP is getting very good in Blockland now. Though some of my favorite roleplay servers have either disbanded, or have been too focused on expansion and its watered down the game. Again, the best roleplay should be done in small dedicated groups. This is because there is a limit to how you many people can stay on top of plots, and once you get past 10 people it gets hard to be inclusive with other people and keep everyone up-to-date.

Although I agree with most everything else, I would have to disagree with this statement. True, RP's CAN be done in small groups, but it limits freedom of choice and overall variety. If someone wants a very lively and pretty much completely player chosen RP, it should be larger. Small RP's should be kept to RP's meant to be completely administrator created, not free choice RP's.
