Only thing is, I have attempted this before, I think on 10.04 and the server would crash after several hours. Perhaps it's because I was using the GNOME desktop environment, could that have caused the problems?

As far as i remember there was a problem with TCPobjects, or some other networking stuff?!?
is that fixed?

Worked fine for me.

No crashes for me. Server was up for well over a day, I brought it down though because I was moving to a more powerful dedicated server to host on.

I had no drops. If it does update wine if you have an old one installed, or follow the post above.

Are you aware you could have just used Wine and then double clicked on the dedicated server icon? Wine actually runs Blockland very very well, u just cant have fullscreen.

This tutorial is geared towards setting the server up with VNC other components as a proper dedicated server.

It's a remote desktop thing for managing servers.

Okay, once Teamspeak says something about my license, I'll be installing VNC in a heartbeat and moving the server to a new location.

That runs the client too which I was not aiming for.  You need to use the command manually or from a script to prevent the client from also loading.

Just an update:

I discovered my FTP server prevented logging into the folder path Blockland creates.  I fixed it by doing this.

mv /root/Blockland/ /var/blockland/

Afterwards I appended the following to the launcher options.

-profilePath "/var/blockland"
