Why does my internet connection suck?

It's not that it's slow though, it's that it goes down COMPLETELY for long periods of time. As in I can't do anything needing an Internet connection /at all/, not that it's too slow.

What internet provider do you have? I know hughes net has this thing where you pay for how much interenet you can use before they shut it down, and then it resets after 24 hours. This could be the case with yours and you should look it up or ask your parents.

my parents say charter but i'm not sure if that's what you're asking. i'm terrible at terminology when it comes to this type of thing.

Look up their website, they probably have a "details about our service" or something similar.

Did you try asking them why its going slow?

Get fibre optics. I got it then my internet connection shot through the roof.

and yes and they're not really sure, my dad even called charter once but didn't get through, my mom hates it too because she can't write emails or do anything without it going down

Its probably because Charter only loosely covers the area your in, and the connection gets iffy at times. You might want to try a new interent provider if that is the case.

in the mean time you can do
ping google.com -t -w 5000
I believe, so you can be.. sort of notified when it goes down.
