We are the community, and the community angered him with stuffposts and flaming, thus driving himself towards this decision. But of course, his supposed Self Delete is not entirely our fault (if at all, in some people's opinions). He had a choice, whether to simply leave or to kill himself. Some people, although definitely not from the beginning of the thread, probably started thinking, Holy stuff, did we just drive this kid towards Self Delete?, and thus feel more guilty, and feel more empathy towards him than they did before. They will feel like they, and the rest of the community involved, have caused it, and they believe they have to try to fix it, wish that they had said something before. But of course, as I said before, had he just left a simple goodbye post, no one would care. He would have left, and although a bit of discussion might arise, it won't be as bad nor last as long as this has. However, this is of course a different situation, obviously causing different reactions and beliefs than the latter solution. Not to mention the fact that docter most likely did not kill himself, but rather just wanted attention as he left the forums, as Electrk and various others have stated before. --- End quote --- |
