Games aren't really meant to be realistic.
really? I thought people liked that bf3 looks realistic

maybe it's a joke, maybe everything might as well look like skyrim on lowest graphics

Those are graphics, not mechanics and all that. Shotguns are made to be like they are because its supposed to be fun and its how the majority of people view them. Games are not ALWAYS meant to be realistic, sure there are some that are, but most of the time if games integrate realistic factors, its just to make the game more enjoyable or something like graphics.

graphics, mechanics. I don't see much difference if we're talking about realism, which we are.

if the majority view shotguns as bullet spraycans (I'm sure you have reliable sources...) then that's because shotguns are unrealistic in games. not the other way around.
My brother has played a lot of MW2 and whatever games came after (he's currently playing BF3) and he usually has something to say about realism. e.g. shoot someone in the face and they live.
Recently I pointed out that it's kinda weird to run around jumpin' all matrix style and shooting people with 1% hp.
cause in reality you'd be crawling on the ground, not half blind. and he agrees.

but ofc I don't know what reliable source told you about what "the majority" thinks or wants.

Kind of confused about what you are arguing here, but I said that shotguns ARE unrealistic in games because thats what people want. Its fun and quirky and makes the game playable and adds variety. And obviously mw2 isn't realistic, 99% of fps games are not realistic. They kind of go in that direction by "getting rid of the healthbar", but no one wants every single shooter t be just like real life. Video games are meant to act like recreations of real-life actions (not always, of course), not replicate them completely right down to the last blood drop. Games like Flashpoint or something similar, act as simulation video games, which are MEANT to be realistic and usually difficult. Like those airplane simulators.

Graphics and weapons and all that other stuff are incredibly different when it comes to video games. MW2 has nice graphics, buts its not realistic at all as you stated before. People fuse the two together because it looks pretty and still has a fun factor to it. Obviously, every game could look like pacman or something, but to be honest, I would not want to have every single game looking like someone stuff on my screen instead of having prettyful flowers and scratches in rocks.

Medal of Honor has the most realistic shotguns out of BF and MW, in the campaign at least-- I've gotten a headshot at 300 meters with one lol

shotguns are pretty effective at 10 ft. you must have not seen the double negative

also stop falling for girls so easily she was the first girl I ever thought was worth trying to get

also i bet you're a nerd and you've been bullied in school herp-derp technically I am a nerd but I typed all of that when I was depressed and over-thinking everything with a bad attitude and no I don't lol I'm a kick-boxer
I like how you're intentionally trying to piss me off

Video game related:
Unrealistic real-life weapons (shotguns do not have a 200 kilometer spead for forgets sake)
Games that have an explosion blast radius equivalent to a peanut
Frustrating games (I like hard games but when it's simply frustrating I want to throw the game out the window)
Games where everything has an albedo akin to Enceladus regardless of what it is made of (eg everything made in the UDK engine)
Batstuff handicapped AI
Messages you here every five seconds
Bottomless pits, small platforms and the jump height of the Heavy
TF2 Pyros
Games with grind-related power-ups (COD airstrikes are an excellent example)

People related:
Wiggers
People that play loud rap music with their windows down and drive at a stunning 2 mph
People that believe science is an Evolution/Atheism-specific thing
Heavily-religious people (for clairification, Christianity is primarily your personal relationship with Jesus/God/Holy Spirit which is why I can sit back and laugh at religious people with atheists.)
People that just have to tell you about something (anime, manga, other japanese stuff, homestuck)
People that aren't enlightened about my snake.

Food related:
Foods that, when the nutritional facts are inspected, look more like edible chemicals than actual food
Nose-scorching soda burps that would be rude and loud if done via mouth

BLF related:
Lord Tony
People complaining about v21
Nick not updating CC
People not posting in Comrade's Adventures
Bronies that post things outside the MLP topic
People that post obviously inflammitory subjects to provoke fights

Internet related:
loving NETGEAR HHHHHNNNGGG (aka the reason I haven't been on for a week)

Hobby related:
Remixes that are too loud but when turned down sound like the original (aka the story of my Umbral Ultimatum "remix" per se)
Stepping on legos (though my gears grind harder if they break after stepping on them)
Confidence and ideas to make something, then opening up the program I'm going to work in and losing motivation in an instant (why I've never done anything of signifigance in Blockland)

I'm a very crabby guy when I'm honest.

not sure if you missed the part where I said that my bro agreed that certain unrealistic things were kinda dum

which begs the question, is my bro the only fps player in the world who would agree with me?
apparently he is! you said it yourself. "most people somethn somethn" again, you probably have reliable sources of some sort.
Although to me it would only seem normal if people would agree with me on these things.

I'm pretty sure I can safely say most people like the style MW2 and most other FPS's have because they make a stuffload of money every time they are released. It's not like there is a shortage of FPS games or something.
