What are your views on Online Codes? (Or whatever they are called.)

Jumpingjackflash:
While I'm building my new PC I've been playing a bit of console games. A thing I've noticed is that a lot of games have codes to play online. Now some of these games I've been hoping to play online on for ages. But since I got it from a secondhand shop I couldn't play. This made me so mad I broke the case. (Anger management I know.) I don't know if PC has these (probably not) since all my games are from steam. Anyways what are your views on these codes?
Extrude:
Don't buy used PC games. It's a giant scam designed by people who don't understand how disc-based PC games work.

DICE said that if you get the game from blockbuster or whatever you can download a free 48 hour trial code to play.

But I don't know what game you are talking about.
Extrude:
... I'm pretty sure no console game I have ever played has needed a code to play online. It's probably some stuffty XBOX scam like their online system.
