It usually takes in excess of 500ms for satellite connections. You have decent speeds. |

I prefer cable for internet, you dont lose signal whenever it rains or when I had Verizon (not fios) I would lose signal as soon as I heard thunder. Plus I have unlimited bandwidth from comcast, I dont see why you guys decided to change. Just post ur speedtest results. --- End quote --- Our local internet is like 150$ per month and it's slow, but I can run my online games. This new internet is faster, and is $80 per month, but can't run online games. Talk about being caught between a rock and a hard place. |
| Badspot:
Satellite internet will never work for online games because the satellites are in geostationary orbit at ~35,000km altitude. This adds an extra 460ms to each round trip at minimum, just due to the speed of light. 460ms is unplayable as it is and then you add on the extra time for processing the signal in the satellite and at the ground station and the normal internet delay and it's hopeless. You're better off with dial-up. |
