Pretty much everyone in this thread with a strong opinion is a cookie cutter ill-informed idiot that doesn't know what they are talking about.

you're one of them

Rock.
its been around longer and is more refined.

Rock and Rap

it really depends upon the artist and album. I love Linkin Park's Hyrbrid Theory but i also like Lil Waynes no Ceilings. I hate Linkin Park's new stuff but i like lil waynes old stuff.

in my opinion, older rap and rock are better than this new "boy band" stuff they've had recently!

What if I told you that I used to listen to KoRn?
KoRn is a nu-metal band, which is generally considered a mix between rap and metal (which comes from rock)
And what if I told you I like some of their newer work, such as their collaboration with Skrillex? That would mean that I like rock, rap and dubstep. !!! :O

But seriously, differentiating between genres doesn't make much sense. Some bands are influenced by a lot of different sounds, and it's rare to find a "pure" rock band.

Each genre has its pros and cons. Some artists are bad, others are good. Just because I like rock (and metal) doesnt mean I like hair/glam metal or deathcore. I also find some of the earlier rock bands boring, even though I generally like the genre.

If I had to choose the one genre that most of the songs on my iPod could (to some extent) be categorized under, it would have to be rock.

(But classical music is superior to all of these :P)

Rock, Classic Rock, Metal, etc. OP made genre deciding hard and I'm bad with matching music to genres.

Rap music is for wiggers and swag cigarettes, it's over popularized stuff on the radio that makes white highschool kids think they are from the "ghetto" and that all their friends are their "brothers" and that they will "pop a cap in yo ass" because they think they are "gangstas"

The only gangsters I like are the ones from the prohibition era who had goddam respect for people.

Dubstep is ok, prefer electronic music or drumb and bass.

Dont start a stuff fit over this please these are just my opinions.
Obviously you haven't heard any good rap
