Welcome. You might want to find someone who is good at Blockland, watch how they do things, get tips and pointers from ingame, just to ensure you don't get crucified when you go out on other public servers.
Don't build with 1x1's or those tall sticks, 1x1x5's regardless how 'Easy' it is. That's spam, even if it's "On a baseplate".
Don't ask for admin, you probably won't get it unless you're at a bad server whose host doesn't care about moderating his own server.
Try to stay humane and intelligent and people won't hurt you.
