even worse, the argument parameters are using an already instantiated variable instead of specifying a type and name! it should look more like this:

function family(string name) {
    alert(name);
}

It's perfectly valid assuming the language was javascript.

all of you are loving nerds

sorry, never used javascript, and you're kidding me right

there are a lot of languages that don't require you to explicitly define variable types

uhh ya don't you know about great languages such as:

torquescript
python (still has types, but it's all implicit)

[less-experienced zone]
lua
javascript

[no experience zone]
ruby (right?)
perl (looking at it it seems there's some distinction between broad categories)
php apparently?

you know what here's a wikiped that can actually explain this

Let's get back to laughing instead of discussing programming languages

ok what are you talking about? do u really not know about this stuff (statically typed languages are TRASH ANYWAY)

yeah, too many programming nerds ruin the joke

sorry, I've only been programming for like a year and I learned C#, C and really really basic python

guess I'm just clueless

and really really basic python
if you even know enough python to be able to assign a string to a variable you should definitely know that you don't have to declare its type. what

oh duh

didn't think that one through, obviously I don't know python lol

well this was an interesting discussion
