I'm disappointed that that weird stuff weapon was able to parry attacks from a lightsaber. IIRC They were able to cut through almost anything and only were blocked by cortosis (it fizzled it out) and the plasma bits on an electrostaff.

pretty sure anything with an "energy field" around it can provide resistance against a lightsaber because the "light" is contained by some kind of "energy field"

i would imagine that technology had been improving the star wars universe just as it does in the real world. its been like 20 years or something so logically there might be some advances in weaponry.

The only lightsaber users post Episode 3 were Vader and Luke (maybe the emperor too, but he was never seen using one in the originals?)
Post Episode 6 the only users were Luke, Kylo Ren, and presumably the knights of Ren. Yet the only known non-First Order saber user was Luke who has been in hiding for sometime.

So why produce anti-lightsaber weapons if you don't anticipate meeting lightsaber users?
