You see, this is why I prefer the Sword-on-a-stick style polearms.

Reach and stabbing capability of a spear, and the slashing power of a sword

SPEARS
DO NOT
'SLASH'

Pointy sticks have no discernable blade and cannot be used against a sword.
Besides, I could just use some really long sword because this is fantasy and evryting is posibl!!

All mounted on a six-foot long pole
Where is your puny sword now.

1. That's very crude when you could just stab somebody with a sword and go deeper.
Or you could make a bloody mess
3. You don't swing a loving spear.
5. Spears are made for stabbing, not cutting.
Even if it's a blade on a stick, you're better off swinging instead of poking. A spear when swung overhead can put enough kick to punch through your cranium or possibly even brain.

yes. ._.
sorry. I skimmed over the first line and thought you ment "sword vs spear" kind of on.

All mounted on a six-foot long pole

Talk about front-heavy.

Or you could make a bloody mess

Lovely.

Even if it's a blade on a stick

hmmmmm.............

But what if I'm wearing a helmet and body armor?
Your spear would snap in half if you tried that.

What's wrong with spears designed purely for slashing?

What's wrong with spears designed purely for slashing?

That they're just glorified long-handle dirks. :cookieMonster:

Ok but seriously everybody has been talking about the poking type of spear and now you switch over to slashing spears?

I don't care if you want to swing around a slashing spear. They're ok.

Talk about front-heavy.

Weight + Edge + Swinging = Dead

But what if I'm wearing a helmet and body armor?
Your spear would snap in half if you tried that.

Sharpness, velocity, weight, etc.
And a helmet isn't a "lol i can survive anything" magical piece of body armor. Even if the polearm didn't cut into it, it would still bash your skull in.

But what if I'm wearing a helmet and body armor?
Your spear would snap in half if you tried that.

No no no

no

no it would not

And then you'd have a large piece of metal (your helmet) slamming into your head

But what if I'm wearing a helmet and body armor?
Your spear would snap in half if you tried that.
Baaaaahahahaha jesus christ you're not even trying anymore
for one there's no known helmets made from unbreakablium and most helmets can be split with ease, provided you swing harder than usual
for two body armor doesn't protect your skull

or cutlasses on poles  :cookieMonster:
