Gold has very useful alchemical properties
Also the gold that was made has a very low karat. Any higher and the amount of gold made would of been less.
Alteration:
Take wrench
Transform the gold and metal underneath into Australium
Hit bad people to turn them into Australium statues
Transform Australium statues into gold statues
Sell gold
Repeat for infinite money
