[100x70] Cerebrated Chronicles - Who thought a party of 8 was a good idea?

Lol, no. Do you know how long I've been tolerating this sort of stuff from you? That's right. Ever since I started this whole adventure business. Every time you found a little flaw in my adventures, whether it was about your questioning the realism, or the art style, you had to nitpick about it constantly and you still do.
And now, when I say that I find your adventure kind of boring, once, you get insanely upset. What the hell is wrong with you? But alright, like you said, I'm going to stop now. Not going to derail this topic. But seriously, still, I find your adventure kind of boring.

Let's take a moment here because we obviously all need to understand the difference between criticisms vs opinions.
Criticisms are empirical ideas that can be tested against previous versions of a body of work or a collected knowledge about a subject. The work doesn't always have to fit a formula, but the best ones usually tend to take the ideas of the past and build on them. When the new product is inferior or flawed in comparison to another, better model, a criticism can then be waged against that work as a whole. These are constructive (whether hurtful or not) as they allow the person being criticized to work on improving themselves to an already set field of standards so that they may break out and continue doing original work (the idea of "you may break the rules once you know them").
Criticisms usually include things like:

--- End quote ---
Or writing style and structure.
Now, an opinion is something derived from an already existing piece of work that is under compliance with the set of rules or breaks them on the purpose, but does so in a way that the problem with the experience is not the structure or design, simply the content chosen to be displayed.
Saying something like
--- Quote from: Yosher on October 26, 2012, 05:49:15 PM ---your adventure kind of boring
--- End quote ---
, when all Menen was doing is establishing his characters instead of constantly having them fight something is an opinion. He did something that every major author or screenplay writer would do in what is usually considered a "good" piece of work. In fact, Menen's adventure is actually rather trite in this specific faucet troupe of storytelling. But the question of whether its good or not doesn't rely on composition, just content.
Some people like their work to have characters whom you can relate to; whom you know and understand and admire as individuals, as if they were real, so you can connect to them.
Others enjoy constant conflict and boom pow explosions. Those are mostly children.

I read the entire thing, but really? Do you people really have to constantly put words into my mouth?
When I say "interesting" I do not mean "boom pow explosions" or constant battling. When the hell did I ever even say anything CLOSE to that? When I say action-filled, I mean something interesting. All that the characters have done so far is walk, talk to people a bit, and randomly kick people in the head. I now understand that all of you have a different definition of "interesting" than I do. I'm just going to stop reading this adventure, it's probably for the best.

You just described the very essence of an opinion.
Which was what I thought the entire argument was about.
We were talking about criticisms of your work.
Sir, you have not seen criticism. The things Menen has brought up are tame compared to the veracious lashing I could give you on your adventure. I choose not to in the respect that it's of nothing of importance. You're free to tell your story your way. But if you come in here speaking all high and mighty about what's interesting, then you have obviously not given this reading any thought.
Alteration:
I'm going to interrupt for a sec and post Raxii's theme "Luck on My Side/The Titan Turrican (Remix)" because I just finished it.
