I listen to Periphery and Animals as Leaders, and I support this. I'm not really into Periphery at the moment, but they have a very nice progressive style, and Animals as Leaders has amazing musicians with good taste in multiple genres of music.

By the way, I'm thinking of making a general topic for virtually all types of Rock/Metal, yay or nay?

Metal is fantastic. Stop listening to stuff mainstream crap that has been idealized as all metal. Not all metal is screaming, not all metal is random thrashing. Animals as Leaders is an amazing example of true musicianship, it's its metal.

AAL is really interesting because they actually are really good at their instruments, and not many people can really deny that

now, whether they like it...

personally, i like AAL. listen to CAFO whenever i play Ace of Spades. makes me feel like i'm in full metal jacket or something.

I don't know anyone in person of or near my age group who has decent taste in music. All you have to do is switch on MTV and check what constitutes as the top 10 US or UK chart and you can pretty much guarantee its all stuff.
