Doesn't make it any less irrational. I was loveually abused as a young child for a period of several months by my cousin and you don't see me cowering in fear when a homoloveual walks past me.
He suffered a great deal of emotional trauma and I can sympathize with him, what he went through shouldn't have happened to him at all. But it doesn't justify being afraid of all gay people, because Menen's brown townogy still rings true. It's just like jumping out of your skin when you see a black person because one mugged you. It's a harmful generalization, in small part to the group but moreover harmful to the person who is afraid.
